About the Teaching Assistant (TA) Role
A Teaching Assistant (TA) supports teaching activities during discussion sessions, laboratory instruction, assignment guidance, and other teaching-related tasks. TAs often play critical roles in enhancing students’ learning outcomes. Moreover, through model learning, TAs can influence students’ character and values.
At universities in Taiwan and abroad, well-established TA training and tiered systems have proven effective. Graduate students who undergo TA training and gain practical teaching experience typically develop stronger teaching skills, communication abilities, and confidence. This, in turn, enhances their competitiveness in the academic job market after graduation.
About the TA Workshop Camp
To support TAs in becoming role models for student learning and character development, and to serve as effective bridges between faculty and students, the Center organizes the Teaching Assistant Workshop one to two weeks before the start of each semester.
The workshop includes sessions on:
-
Fundamentals of Teaching
-
Personal Growth and Career Planning
-
Digital Learning Tools
-
Gender Equality and Professional Ethics
-
Experience Sharing from Senior TAs
All sessions are led by experienced faculty members from diverse disciplines. Through this workshop, we aim to enhance TAs’ professional competence, strengthen their integration into NTHU’s teaching community, and ultimately contribute to improving the teaching and learning environment on campus.
